The Supreme Court screwed up huge the other day with their decision on medical marijuana! Sorry to get political here, but how dare John Paul Stevens and the other 5 signed on with. This decision split the political ideologies of the court. Justifiably, may I say! I am not a smoker of any form of tobacco, but I have dealt with my share of dying people. A little marijuana helps a sick and dying person to feel better, and now they have the federalies shaking down their doctors?!?! Regardless...

There is nothing as invigorating as seeing democracy in action. Western New Yorkers are actually working to change the system that has corrupted and destroyed a once-great city. The last time I wrote about politics, I wrote about the excitement the citizens felt when they convinced their legislators not to raise the sales tax in our county. Well there has been progress in Buffalo¡¦s citizenry battling its legislator. We in Buffalo and the surrounding area are now working to remove the cor...

It has come to this. The two sides decided that is would be fun to play chicken. The entire National Hockey League is skating on thin is with hot blades. Most of the fans have long since surrendered the belief that the game would be played again, at least in the National Hockey League. If the hockey season gets cancelled now, it would be a crime of which both Gary Bettman (head of the league) and Bob Goodenow (head of the players union) are culprits and they should both lose their heads....

What a novel concept, the legislature listened to its citizens! Growing up in Buffalo, the heart of the Rust Belt, one gets used to an inefficient government more concerned with appeasing the special interest groups than the citizens at large. But this time, the citizens fought against over taxation, and we were heard. Regardless of political ideology and affiliation, citizens let their county representatives know that “we are overtaxed already and we will not forget who voted against the...

There is a frightening movement gaining legs in political circles. Arnold “The Terminator” Schwarzenegger wishes to run for President of the United States. Simply put, the men who wrote our constitution very deliberately wrote a detailed document creating our country and before enumerating any duties, we were told that American presidents must be native born. There must have been a reason that they saw this rule as fundamental to our country. While it is politically correct, I do not bel...

Now that the NHL is proceeding to lockout, I hope that Tom Golisano, owner of the Buffalo Sabres, will stop running his “Smitty” advertising campaign. It is clear that the NHL, and pro sports in general, stopped caring about the fans a long time ago. Smitty is supposed to be this average fan that goes to all the home games, inspires both the players and the fans on to victory, and sticks with the team through the good and bad times. The notion that the players or the owners even realize t...

The death of Ronald Reagan is an event of extreme sadness, not only for Republicans or for Americans, but also for the entire world. This man of tremendous controversy who seemed, in his day, to polarize America, has proven to do just the opposite. He did not just unite a country that had stopped believing in itself, he united global superpowers bent on mutual destruction. If you do not remember, I implore you, read a little bit about what the world was like after Watergate, the Vietnam Wa...

Dear President Bush: The war on terror made great strides over the weekend, and it is paramount that you do not forget who our friends were in times of strife. In geopolitical terms, France and Germany criticized their “allies” when their support was necessary, the United Nations wanted nothing more than condemnation of US action, and US politicians were rushing to be the first to criticize. Now everyone wants to be the first to glad-hand the president, without acknowledging that ...

When the world offers a situation I find troublesome, annoying, disconserting, or humorous, I like to offer my point of view on the subject. This site will be one of the locations where my writings can be read.
